Business Planning - what (or who) are you missing?

Who’s missing?

I’ve been having a number of conversations with business owners in the lead up to their strategic planning sessions.

Now, Where, How is a typical structure for any planning session; but missing critically in this sequence is Who.

Getting to where you want to go ultimately depends on your team - so making sure you’re clear on the roles needed today and tomorrow inside your business to achieve those goals is an essential step, often overlooked in any planning process.

The better sequence to me is: Now, Where, Who, How.

Focusing on the how not the who traps you into needing to have the answers - rather than finding the right people and asking them how.

Mapping out roles, expectations of those fulfilling those roles, and the qualities of team members within those roles is fundamental to planning any good business.

Who’s missing on your team?
